A real stopover,
a quarter of an hour from the Orte exit.
For anyone driving the A1 between Rome and Florence, or heading back north from the South, who wants to stop for a night in a real home: Villa Vacanze Valentina is in Bassano in Teverina, 15 minutes from the Orte exit and railway station.
Stopping,
not just passing through.
Orte is where the Autostrada del Sole meets Tuscia: the A1 exit and the railway station are a quarter of an hour from the villa. Whether you are coming down from Florence towards Rome, driving back up from the South, or arriving by train and looking for a base in the countryside, what you find here is a holiday home with a pool, not a room by the road.
On the blog we explain why this is a good stopover for anyone driving back from the South on the A1; if Rome is the destination of your trip, see our page on the holiday home with pool near Rome.
From the exit to the house
in fifteen minutes
You leave the motorway at Orte, leave its noise behind and take the road to Bassano in Teverina. Fields, a few bends, the village on its tufa rock above the Tiber valley. After a quarter of an hour the gate opens, your car comes into the property and stays there, in the free car park inside. Outside, the silence of the countryside. It is the right distance for a stopover: close enough not to lengthen the journey, far enough that you no longer feel it.

The pool and the large 3,000 m² garden are shared by the three accommodations; the pool is open from mid-May to mid-October. The villa is open all year round: one night in passing in winter or a long weekend in summer, the house is the same.

Half a day
around Orte
Anyone stopping for a night often sets off again with a few hours to spare. Ten minutes away is the Monster Park of Bomarzo, the sixteenth-century wood of stone sculptures, best seen in the morning while it is still quiet. Fifteen minutes away is Vitorchiano, the village suspended on its rock. Twenty-five, Viterbo, the city of the Popes. Rome is an hour away: if that is where you are heading, you can leave the city for the next day and arrive rested.
By train
to Orte
Orte is also a railway station, 15 minutes by car from the villa, along the same country road you take from the motorway exit. If you travel by train and would rather sleep in the countryside than in a city, you will find here a quiet base for Tuscia, with the station a quarter of an hour away: for the last stretch you need a car.
Before you
take the exit.
How far is the holiday home from the Orte motorway exit?

Can we stay for just one night?
Yes. Write to us with the dates you have in mind and we will reply with what is free: people stopping over along the A1 like finding a real home instead of a room by the road.
Is there parking?
Yes, ample and free of charge, inside the property: your car stays behind the gate for the whole of your stay.
Is the pool private?
No: it is shared by the three accommodations, the two apartments in the villa and the cottage. It is open from mid-May to mid-October; the villa is open all year round.
What can we see in half a day?
