The Lovers' Cottage lit up in the evening, a romantic getaway in Tuscia
Tuscia · one hour from Rome

A romantic getaway
in Tuscia.

A wooden cottage just for two, with a private garden and a poolside shower. All around: villages at sunset, thermal baths under the stars and the silence of the Viterbo countryside.

A real escape

Not a room.
A place of your own.

A romantic getaway near Rome does not have to mean a hotel with a buffet and fake candles. One hour from the city, Tuscia offers what couples are really looking for: silence, villages straight out of a film, thermal water under the stars — and a place all to yourselves, not a room off a corridor.

What makes the difference is the place itself: the Lovers' Cottage is an independent hideaway with an outdoor shower by the pool and breakfast served in the garden. On the blog you will find our five ideas tested on our guests.

Frequently asked questions

Before you
set off together.

What makes the Lovers' Cottage right for a romantic getaway?

It is an independent wooden hideaway designed just for two: private garden, outdoor shower by the pool and breakfast served in the garden. In the evening the lanterns come on among the trees — and there is no one else around, only you.

How far is Tuscia from Rome for a weekend?

Barely an hour on the A1: the Orte motorway exit is 15 minutes from the villa. Leave Rome on Saturday morning and by 2 pm you are already in the pool — no flights, no complicated packing.

Is it true you can bathe at the thermal baths at night?

Yes: at the Terme dei Papi in Viterbo, every Saturday, the monumental pool stays open from 9 pm to 1 am, with sulphurous water at 40 degrees steaming into the night air. For a couple it is probably the most romantic experience in Lazio — even more so in winter.

Which villages should we see in two days?

Our tried-and-tested loop: Civita di Bagnoregio at sunset on Saturday, then on Sunday the Sacro Bosco of Bomarzo at opening time, Celleno the ghost village and Vitorchiano, the village suspended over the precipice. Three completely different atmospheres in half a day.
