The Lovers' Cottage lit up on a winter evening, Villa Vacanze Valentina in Tuscia
Tuscia · one hour from Rome

Winter
in Tuscia.

The warm wood of the cottage, the fire lit, and twenty minutes away water that comes out of the ground at fifty-eight degrees. Here in winter the hot water is the earth's doing.

The real season

No queues.
No hurry.

Some places close in winter. Tuscia does the opposite: the villages go back to the people who live in them, the roads empty, and the springs — natural and free here — finally become what they were made for, a hot open-air bath when it is cold outside.

Villa Vacanze Valentina stays open all year, in Bassano in Teverina, province of Viterbo: two apartments in the villa and a wooden cottage for two, in three thousand square metres of garden. In winter the garden is not a pool: it is silence, low morning fog and the sound of your own steps.

Rome is an hour away and truly visitable in the cold months — and on the blog you will find our guides to the thermal baths of Viterbo and to Civita di Bagnoregio.

Low season

For weeks
or for months.

Not only weekends: in winter we gladly welcome people who stay a long time — those working in the area, those who want a season away from the city, those simply looking for a real place to be.

The apartments have their own entrance, a fully equipped kitchen, heating, wifi and parking inside the property. No hotel corridor, no neighbour through the wall: a home, with its garden around it.

Frequently asked

Before
you book.

Is the villa open in winter too?

Yes, all year round. The apartments and the Lovers' Cottage are heated; the cottage, built entirely of wood, is especially snug in the cold months. The pool belongs to summer: in winter the stay revolves around the house, the fireplace and what lies around.

Is there really a fireplace?

Yes, in one of the two apartments, and it is a working fireplace: the firewood is included. Ask us when you book and we will assign you that apartment, if it is free.

What is there to do in Tuscia in winter?

The thermal water first of all: the free pools of Bullicame and Piscine Carletti cost nothing and run hot all year, and at Terme dei Papi in Viterbo you can bathe at night on Saturdays. Then the villages without summer queues — Civita di Bagnoregio, Vitorchiano, Celleno — and Rome one hour away, in the months when it can really be visited.

Do you take long stays in low season?

Yes, gladly: weeks or months, for people working in the area or wanting to spend a season in Tuscia. The apartments have their own entrance, a fully equipped kitchen, heating, wifi and parking inside the property. Send us your dates and we will prepare a tailored quote.

Is breakfast included?

Served breakfast is not included. Inside you will find a coffee corner with capsules and something packaged for the first morning; the village bar is a few minutes away and the apartment kitchens are complete.
